Five Adjustable Parameter Fit of Quark and Lepton Masses and Mixings

چکیده

We develop a model of ours fitting the quark and lepton masses and mixing angles by removing from the model a Higgs field previously introduced to organise a large atmospheric mixing angle for neutrino oscillations. Due to the off-diagonal elements dominating in the see-saw neutrino mass matrix the large atmospheric mixing angle comes essentially by itself. It turns out that we have now only five adjustable Higgs field vacuum expectation values needed to fit all the masses and mixings order of magnitudewise taking into account the renormalisation group runnings in all sectors. The CHOOZ angle comes out close to the experimental bound. PACS numbers: 12.15.Ff, 12.60.-i, 14.60.Pq.

Lepton mass matrices from a quark-lepton analogy

We study the implications of having a similarity between quark and lepton mixing in the Dirac sector of the Standard Model plus the right-handed neutrino. This enable us to describe all masses and mixings in the Dirac sector in terms of only five parameters: three mass scales mb, mτ and mt, one parameter λ describing all the mixings, and a CP violating phase in the quark sector. Then, from expe...

Leptogenesis and Low-energy Observables

We relate leptogenesis in a class of theories to low-energy experimental observables: quark and lepton masses and mixings. With reasonable assumptions motivated by grand unification, one can show that the CP-asymmetry parameter takes a universal form. Furthermore the dilution mass is related to the light neutrino masses. Overall, these models offer a natural explanation for a lepton asymmetry i...

Heavy Families: Masses and Mixings*

We use the infrared fixed point structure of the SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) renormalization group equations to derive predictions for the masses and mixings of heavy families in perturbatively unifiable grand unified theories. We show that the sum of the squares of all quark (or lepton) masses must be less than (355 GeV)2. This implies that theories with NH heavy families must have at least one new q...

Family replicated fit of all quark and lepton masses and mixings

We review our recent development of family replicated gauge group model, which generates the Large Mixing Angle MSW solution. The model is based on each family of quarks and leptons having its own set of gauge fields, each containing a replica of the Standard Model gauge fields plus a (B − L)-coupled gauge field. A fit of all the seventeen quark-lepton mass and mixing angle observables, using j...

Neutrino Masses and Mixings in a Universal Seesaw Mass Matrix Model

Neutrino masses and mixings are investigated on the basis of a universal seesaw mass matrix model, in which quark (except for top) and charged lepton mass matrices Mf and neutrino mass matrix Mν are given by Mf ≃ mLM F mR and Mν ≃ mLM F mL (F = N), respectively. For a simple model which can successfully describe quark masses and mixings, we find that the observed neutrino data (except for the s...
